This picture was taken with the Panasonic LF1, a pocket sized camera with a very small (1/1.7) sensor.  The extremely wide angle lens means there is normally a very large depth of field (DOF).  In order to make the main subject stand out I used Coral Paintshop Pro X5 with the add-on Topaz lens effects to blur the background like you might see with a larger SLR.
